Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

An air conditioner or heat pump uses its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s streamed back into your home. This liquid is contained within the coils of your cooling system, but one of the most typical refrigerants used for many, many years – the R-22 (Freon) is now being phased out due to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be in production.

Introducing R-410A

R-410AChlorine-free and ozone-friendly, R-410A is recognized by the EPA. R-410A will keep your AC running cool without harming the environment. Additionally, Lennox’s highest efficiency systems are engineered to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system perform efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for durability, quiet operation and improved dehumidification, so you’re sure to stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Hillcrest Air Conditioning & Plumbing in Bakersfield, our cooling offerings can work with R-410A. If you have a system that was made prior to 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is hard to find. Some manufacturers sell alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
